Greater London AuthorityBetween 2002 and 2008 Volterra had an ongoing role to support and provide leadership for the Greater London Authority (GLA) Economics unit. The unit provides expert advice and analysis on London's economy and the economic issues facing the capital. It works closely with other government bodies including the London Development Agency (LDA) and Transport for London (TfL).

Bridget Rosewell, Chairman of Volterra, was Consultant Chief Economist at the GLA. She set up the GLA Economics unit in 2002 and provided ongoing strategic advice. The team at Volterra supported Bridget's work by providing a wide range of research and analysis into spatial and land use planning and strategy; transport planning and service delivery; economic development and regeneration; and business planning and resource allocation.

In particular, Volterra lead the way in developing analysis into the complex links between infrastructure provision, city development, economic success and productivity, bringing both agglomeration and wider economic benefits to the forefront of strategic thinking.

In addition, for the last 5 years Volterra provided the long term employment projections which underpin the London Plan. We also carried out a broad spectrum of individual research projects including the distribution of house prices; classifying types of places; and the relationship between
