Bookmark and Share Merton Borough Council, Revitalisation of Morden Town Centre _________________

Merton Borough CouncilVolterra recently completed work commissioned by the London Borough of Merton which informed a strategy for the revitalisation of Morden town centre. Our work considered the catchment areas in and around Morden for different roles and how they both overlap and vary depending upon purpose.

For example the catchment of people commuting out of Morden is very different to the labour market from which Morden draws its workforce. We explored how Morden town centre relates and compares to other nearby centres (such as Kingston and Croydon known for shopping) and how it compares to other London boroughs a similar distance from central London (such as Barking, Barnet, Richmond and Ealing).

We considered the scope for change - the types of people Morden could realistically attract, and the type of place Morden might need to become to maximise this attraction.
