Croydon Gateway

Volterra have been engaged by Arrowcroft to advise on their proposed redevelopment of the Croydon Gateway site since August 2005. Arrowcroft have a unique proposal for the use of the site next to East Croydon station, which is a mixed use scheme, led by the construction of a state of the art 12,500 seat entertainment arena. Volterra have been instrumental in identifying the necessity of such a facility to catalyse the regeneration and revitalisation of the Croydon area.

Croydon is currently a tired back office location, with Tower Hamlets over-taking it as a business employment centre in recent years. However, the accessibility of the site provides a major opportunity, with over 6 million people having access to Croydon within an hour, and for commuters the travelling time is pleasant with only a 15 minutes train journey from central London.

Volterra have also worked on the operational viability of the Arena. On the consumer side we have researched ticket prices, types of public events and accessibility options. The Arena would also be a vital corporate resource providing new opportunities for high profile corporate and marketing events.

We have looked into comparable business sponsorships, prices of executive boxes elsewhere and deals which have taken place in the UK for naming rights. We conclude that there is high demand for such a venue in South London and that it will be operationally viable. The Public Inquiry which will decide the future of the Croydon Gateway is currently underway, to find out more about the Inquiry, click here.
