London Plan

Volterra have provided the structural long term employment projections for London for the last five years. These projections underpin the targets set out in the London Plan and the methodology was reviewed and accepted at the EiP into the London Plan. More detail of our methodology can be found in Working Paper 20, published by GLA Economics.

Volterra has built consistent long term projection models at various levels of disaggregation. For London these include the 33 London boroughs and the 12 main sectors of employment. They are split into gender and into full and part time employment where required.

Bridget Rosewell, in her role as Consultant Chief Economist at the GLA, between 2002 to 2008, was integral in establishing the new methodology of Triangulation, allowing comparison between the three types of employment projections for boroughs which arise from the consideration of structural trends, transport accessibility and availability of sites.
